Empires and resistance: the rise and fall of Great Powers

A conference held on Saturday 8th May 2004,

at the Institute of Historical Research, Senate House, Malet St, London, WC1E 7HU

We are currently witnessing an expansion of US military power on a scale not seen since the Vietnam war - but, as historians, we know that Empires fall as well as rise.

In this context, the London Socialist Historians Group organised a one-day conference to discuss the historical issues raised.
