Origins and Development of the Labour Party in Britain at Local Level

Written By: Simon Shaw
Date: January 1998

Published In: Issue 2: Lent term 1998 (The editor)

Interested in examining and comparing the characteristics of individual local Labour parties, or for the opportunity to investigate the effects of National party decisions upon the local organisations? In association with Stephen Bird of the National Museum of Labour History, Manchester, England, Microform Academic Publishers have made available on microfilm (and are continuing to do so) local CLP records that give a cross-representation of local party history from areas and regions throughout the United Kingdom.

The core of each publication comprises Minute books, supplemented by other material such as Annual reports, Account books, Election results, correspondence and other surviving records. Each microfilm is also accompanied by a scholarly introduction, together with a detailed listing of material included.
