The London Socialist Historians Group, along with the journal Revolutionary History, is sponsoring a workshop at the London meeting of the European Social Forum this October, on Rosa Luxemburg and the Lessons of the 1905 Revolution.
The workshop is being held on the eve of the centenary of the 1905 Russian Revolution, and will be introduced by Christine Buchholz on Rosa Luxemburg, Colin Barker on Luxemburg’s pamphlet The Mass Strike, which analysed the revolution in a wider context, and Pete Glatter on the 1905 revolution as mass protest. Pete’s talk is in preparation for a special issue of Revolutionary History, due out next year, celebrating the centenary of the revolution.
The workshop has been organised following the successful session that the LSHG organised with others at the Paris ESF last year.
The ESF takes place at the Alexandra Palace, in north London, from Thursday 14th to Sunday 17th October, with some workshops taking place in Bloomsbury, central London. Speakers at the Forum include Susan George, Ahmed Ben Bella, Samir Amin, Walden Bello and Ken Loach.
Registration for the ESF as a whole costs £30, with a discount for the unwaged. Free or cheap accommodation is available for those from outside London.
For more information, see the ESF web site at http://www.fse-esf.org.
