Speaking strongly to the Congress party for calling the budget capitalistic, the Union minister questioned how the budget could be called capitalistic when it made huge provisions for the development of infrastructure, housing for the poor, health insurance for the poor and marginalized segments of society, electrification and piped water connections for poor rural households, cooking gas connections for the poor, job creation thanks to colossal investments in the public sector.

“The BJP-led NDA government is fully committed to the sustainable development of Assam and the North East region by making huge provisions in road infrastructure, cable car in inaccessible areas and other sectors to height of Rs 2,800 crores,” he said. Singh appreciated the Department of Energy of Assam for its good progress on the power front and called on the CMs of all other states to follow the initiative of the government of Assam on the development of the sector electricity.

The Union Minister has revealed that 24 new road projects have been picked up to the tune of over Rs 20,000 crore for Assam in this year’s budget. Agricultural clusters as well as four mega food parks for Assam have been included in the budget. He also revealed the allocations for the other North East states for 2022-2023.

Singh commended the current state government for the progress made in the power sector. He said there has been a drastic reduction in transmission losses with improved efficiency levels as well as good progress in electrifying rural households. Singh said he has written to chief ministers of other states to learn from Assam on the progress made in the power sector.

He also said that the households left out, numbering around four lakh, had been included and work was in full swing. “Unlike family-centered parties, the only mantra of the BJP party is development and making the country one of the biggest economies in the world,” he said.

“Huge investments in the infrastructure sector, job creation, direct and indirect, through the Make in India program, construction of new roads, factories, railway lines, introduction of 400 Vande Mataram train numbers, etc. aim to make India the fastest growing economy in the world,” Singh added. He also mentioned that in the defense sector, 68% of capital expenditure will come from the local market Atmanirbhar Bharat. .
